a regular- about me
My name is L.
I grew up in a house that never went quiet. Mom sang Anita Baker as a classically trained soprano, gliding through four octaves like it was easy. Step-Dad worked at a factory, then played bass all over stages across our city, the country, and South America. Dad builds homes, and at night he and my Uncle lead a cover-band duo that fills dance floors every week, booked solid through the end of 2026 (as of this writing is is the beginning of 2025).
Music isn’t a pastime for us; it's air.
When Danny Elfman’s Batman theme thundered through the theater in ‘88, I felt sound turn into pure feeling, and I knew I wanted to do that. At 14 I started writing movie scripts in spiral notebooks. At 30 I was an award winning spoken word performer touring the country and at 33 I was doing a one man show scored to my own music.
Since then I’ve helped a team win an Emmy, earned two NABJ honors, and received an Independent Music Award for a spoken-word album I produced. I also toured my one-man show, “Never Say Die,” in small theaters, coffee shops and over 35 individual living rooms with talkbacks about the emotions of the show that were longer than the performance. After each show the crowd stayed, sharing tears and stories long into the night. Stories, words and music move people.
Today I score films. I live with my wife and our two kids—one discovering the world with Rubenstein-Taybi, a rare genetic divergence and the other a little ball of energy that plays with his toys the way I imagine Tim Burton played with his as a young boy. Every cue I write carries their spirit, my family’s sound, and a promise to let each story breathe like real life.
Best,
L
PS: I book clients who need CUSTOM scores, only in July of each year. Make sure you’re on the email list if you will be approaching Post during that time and would like to book time to talk.
